Word of Faith False Teacher Joyce Meyer’s Shocking Doctrine and Heresy

Word of Faith False Teacher                                                                                    Joyce Meyer’s Shocking Doctrine  and Heresy                                                By Fran Sankey

Today we will be discussing the well known conference speaker Joyce Meyer author, and Bible teacher Joyce Meyer. In case you have never heard of Joyce Meyer I will start out with some background about her.

She is a very popular author, conference speaker and Bible teacher based in the Saint Louis area. Meyer has a multimillion dollar ministry called Joyce Meyer Ministries and can be found on the net at www.joycemeyer.org. She also has an extremely popular TV and Radio programme called Enjoying Everyday Life which can be seen and heard on hundreds and hundreds of Radio and TV stations nationally and worldwide. Meyer teaches on some very practical issues making her well received such as forgiveness, dealing with a busy life, emotional healing, anxiety, addictions and self-discipline. She is especially loved by tens of thousands of women who hold her teachings up as being life changing. Joyce Meyer gained even more prominence when she made it to the cover story of Time Magazine in February of 2005 as one in the list of 25 most influential Evangelicals in America and by the way she is also in the September 18th 2006 issue of Time Magazine and she has also been on the cover of Charisma Magazine.

Well as popular as Joyce Meyer is this certainly doesn’t mean her teaching shouldn’t be held up under the light of the scriptures. We are commanded to test all things, examine the prophets, rightly divide the Word of truth and test the Spirits for not all come from God. As always I will be testing the teaching of Joyce Meyer and not judging her relationship with God. Only God knows if she has been born again by the Spirit. Only he knows what is in her heart and if she has truly repented and trusted in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of her sins.

Although Meyer has some good teachings perhaps the most striking, unbiblical, and problematic teaching from Joyce Meyer is her teaching on the atonement of Jesus Christ particularly about what happened between the point of Jesus crucifixion and his resurrection. It isn’t so much that Meyer doesn’t believe in the atonement of Jesus, but the problem lies in where he paid for our sins. The following teaching from Meyer comes from her 1991 Booklet called The Most Important Decision you Will Ever Make, it is also repeated on her audio teaching called From the Cross to the Throne which I have heard is currently unavailable. Well the crux of Meyer’s teaching on the atonement is that Jesus Christ paid for our sins in hell, that’s right in hell!!!! She teaches that on the cross Jesus literally became not just our sin bearer but sin itself and ceased to be the Son of God. After Jesus died on the cross he went to hell not to proclaim the gospel or to announce his victory as some Christians believe but he went to hell to be tortured for 3 days and 3 nights by Satan and his demons as part of the punishment for our sins. After 3 days of demons jumping all over him and laughing at him, God finally had enough and seeing that the price for sin was finally paid God ended the suffering and Jesus then physically rose from the dead as the first born again man.

You know this teaching is nothing real new it has been taught in different forms by many Word of Faith teachers such as Benny Hinn, Frederick Price, Charles Capps, Kenneth Copeland, and the late Kenneth Hagin. You know it is one thing to plagiarize someone else’s teachings but it is another thing to plagiarize heresy and call it orthodox.

Well in her 1991 Booklet called The Most Important Decision you Will Ever Make Joyce Meyer writes quote, “During that time he entered hell where you and I deserved to go because of our sin. He paid the price there. No plan was too extreme. Jesus paid on the cross and in hell.”

Listen to a minute for sound clips of  Joyce Meyer’s teaching on this subject from the audio tape From the Cross to the Throne,

Joyce Meyer – Jesus Tormented in Hell by Satan and Demons (click this link to listen to the sound clip)

(audio clip) Joyce Meyer, “The Devil thought he had it, the devil thought he had won. Oh they were having the biggest party that has ever been had. They had my Jesus on the floor and they were standing on his back jumping up and down laughing and he had become sin. Don’t you think that God was pacing wanting to put a stop to what was going on. All the hosts of hell were up on him, up on him, up on him. The angels are in agony, all the creation is groaning. All the hosts of hell was up on him, up on him, they got on him. They got him down in the floor and got on him and they were laughing and mocking, “haha you trusted God and look where you ended up. You thought he would save you and get you off that cross – he didn’t haha.”

Just in case you doubt Joyce right now she wrote in her above mentioned Booklet quote, “There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am presenting. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell.”

Now I am not going to split hairs with someone who believes a different theology than mine on the order of where Jesus soul / spirit went during the three days and three nights that his body laid in the tomb. Did he go directly to paradise to be with the repentant thief? Did he go to the second compartment mentioned in Luke 16 where the damned souls were suffering in torment? Or did Jesus go to hades or to hell? Did he go there to preach the gospel or to proclaim his victory or to bring The Old Testament righteous souls waiting in Abraham’s bosom to heaven? This can be argued and friendly debated. But what cannot be considered is what you heard Joyce Meyer teach – that Jesus paid for our sin in hell. Jesus certainly did not pay for our sin in hell. The Bible is extremely clear that it was on the cross where our fine was paid, it was on the cross where the blood of Jesus was spilled and accepted as a ransom for us – the cross was the place, the only place where our atonement was brought.

You know Satan loves to take our attention away from the cross. He did it with the Mormons as they teach that Jesus paid for our sins in the garden of Gethsemane. Islam teaches that Jesus didn’t die on the cross at all but perhaps Judas may have died in his place. Christian Science teaches that Jesus didn’t even die because death is an illusion. But the Bible says much different the atonement was made on the cross where Jesus bled and died for us – 1 Peter 2:24 says, “Who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree,” not in hell. Ephesians 1:7 says, “that we have redemption and forgiveness through his blood,” not through his suffering in hell and remember that on the cross not in hell Jesus declared these words in John 19  he said, “It is finished.”

According to Meyer Jesus only meant that The Old Covenant was finished but she said that the atonement was really just getting started when Jesus said these words. However Meyer fails to understand that the words, “It is finished” are one Greek word which means to complete a process to accomplish, to pay in full. Joyce Meyer should take James 3:1 seriously as it says, “My brethren let not many of you become teachers knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgement.” You know it is very interesting that you can search The New Testament from front to back and never exegete this sensationalistic teaching from it.

Meyer like many in The Word of Faith camp who teach extra biblical doctrine appeals to what she would call Revelation Knowledge to substantiate her teachings as coming from God. In other words the Bible doesn’t actually teach this, I got it through a direct revelation from God’s Spirit to my Spirit. That is why Meyer said in her audio tape dealing with the exact same subject quote, “The Bible can’t even find any way to explain this. Not really that is why you have got to get it by revelation. There are no words to explain what I am telling you. I have got to just trust God that he is putting it into your spirit like he put it into mine.”

Joyce Meyer – Revelation Knowledge (click this link to listen to the sound clip)

(audio clip) Joyce Meyer, “The Bible can’t even find any way to explain this. Not really that is why you have got to get it by revelation. There are no words to explain what I am telling you. I have got to just trust God that he is putting it into your spirit like he put it into mine.”

Here is one example of this revelation knowledge on the now unavailable audio tape by Joyce Meyer called From the Cross to the Throne,

Joyce Meyer – Special Revelation Knowledge (click this link to listen to the sound clip)

(audio clip) Joyce Meyer, “Well here comes Jesus into hell. Now I don’t know what hell looks like but God gave me a few ideas. It is hot, fire hot but at the same time it is cold and clammy. That is kind of different isn’t it? Fire hot, but cold and clammy.”

Chapter and verse please. I can understand the fire hot part, but where in the Bible does it say hell is cold and clammy? This is the kind of thing that Joyce Meyer and others in the Word of Faith movement do. They appeal to a special revelation knowledge from God and teach it as Bible truth even though it has no scriptural basis at all. They use this as a way to make themselves appear to possess an anointing from God and if you don’t get what they are teaching you must not have the anointing.

For example on the audio tape Meyer categorizes her heretical atonement theology as something so special that most of the church doesn’t even know about it. For 2,000 years the church didn’t even know what happened between Jesus death on the cross and his resurrection and that is until Joyce.

Joyce Meyer – Special Revelation  (click this link to listen to the sound clip)

(audio clip) Joyce Meyer, “Do you know something? A large majority of the church really doesn’t even know. Honestly and truly they really don’t even know. Well you are going to know when this night is over.”

Another example of extra biblical teaching from Joyce Meyer is this,

Joyce Meyer – It is Enough God Ends Jesus Torture in Hell (click this link to listen to the sound clip)

(audio clip), “Sunday morning here comes the sun. Sunday morning God gets himself together. Justice has been met somehow everything has been taken care of and oh God gets his voice together and he hummers up three words and they go roaring through the universe and entering the gates of hell. He said it is enough. It is enough.”

Again chapter and verse please!!!! Where in the World does the Bible say this? Well we will pick up more about Joyce Meyer and her born again Jesus teaching next week. Last week we began to discuss the theology of popular TV, Radio and conference speaker Joyce Meyer. Meyer has a multimillion dollar Bible teaching ministry with an audience spanning nationally in the U.S. and reaching the world abroad. Meyer is especially attractive to many women who enjoy her practical teaching on topics such as forgiveness, relieving stress, obedience and addictions. However as we covered last week Meyer has some huge problems in her theology when it comes to where Jesus atoned for the sins of mankind. You might say, “that is easy it was on the cross.” Well Meyer actually teaches that it was in hell where Jesus did the work. That’s right in hell. Meyer doesn’t deny the cross outright but says the cross is only the place where the atonement began. This would mean like every cult teaches that the work Jesus did on the cross was insufficient for salvation. Cults and many religions teach there is always more work to be done. The cross wasn’t enough, that my friends is heresy.

According to the atonement according to Joyce Meyer when Jesus was on the cross he literally became sin and ceased to be the Son of God. He then died and went to hell for 3 days and 3 nights where Jesus was beaten and mocked by the devil and his angels. It was this suffering in hell that paid for our sins. Meyer teaches that after God had enough of watching Jesus being beaten with demons jumping up all over him God finally got himself together and yelled out, “it is enough,” which is nowhere to be found in scripture. At this point and the point where we will pick up today Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead as the first man ever to be born again.

In her 1991 Booklet The Most Important Decision you Will Ever Make Meyer wrote quote, “God rose up from his throne and said to the demon powers tormenting the sinless Son of God let him go. Then the resurrection power of the almighty God went through hell and filled Jesus. He was resurrected from the dead the first born again man.”

This again is a heresy taught by several of The Word of Faith teachers out there like Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Frederick Price, Benny Hinn, and more. Joyce Meyer teaches that on the cross Jesus literally became sin and died spiritually, not that he became a sin offering on whom God poured out his divine wrath but that Jesus became sin died spiritually ceasing to be the Son of God. You can her hear her teach this on her audio tape titled From the Cross to the Throne.

Joyce Meyer – Blasphemous Heresy – Jesus Became Sin and Died Spiritually and Ceased to be the Son of God on the Cross (click this link to listen to this sound clip)

(audio clip), Joyce Meyer “He could have helped himself up until the point where he said I commend my spirit into your hands, at that point he couldn’t do nothing for himself anymore. He had become sin, he was no longer the Son of God. He was sin.”

My friend God cannot cease to be God and Jesus never ceased to be the Son of God. Yes he added the nature of humanity in the incarnation, yes he took our sin upon himself, yes he underwent God’s holy wrath for us but no Jesus never ceased to be deity nor did cease to be the Son of God. Psalm 90:2 says, “From everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Jesus always was God and always will be God. There is no point in eternity past or eternity future where the Son can cease to be almighty God.

Now to the born again Jesus teaching.

Joyce Meyer – Jesus the First Born Again Man (click this link to listen to this sound clip)

Listen to Joyce Meyer here, (audio clip) “Do you know something? The minute that blood sacrifice was accepted Jesus was the first human being that was ever born again. Now that was real it happened when he was in hell.”

Is this true, was Jesus the first human ever to be born again? Well it might be good to quickly review why we need to be born again in the first place. Well the reason why we need must experience the new birth is because our physical birth was a birth tainted with sin. Romans 5:12 says, “Therefore just as through one man sin entered the world and death through sin and thus death spread to all men because all sinned.” Psalm 51:5 says, “Behold I was brought forth in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me.” The fact that we are sinners by birth and by choice makes it necessary to be reborn into a right spiritual relationship with God. Having our sins forgiven and declared righteous, since nothing unholy can dwell in God’s presence we must be made holy by the imputed righteousness of Christ where he removes our sin and credits his righteousness into our account.

Now was Jesus a sinner?

No,

Was he born with original sin?

He was born sinless through a virgin.

As Joyce Meyer confuses in her teaching Jesus was not made sin or a sinner on the cross but he bore our sins. He was the holy and sinless lamb of God, the Passover lamb whom the sins of the world and God’s holy wrath were laid upon. Appeasing the justice of God so he could be both just and the justifier of those who have faith in Jesus. The point is that Jesus had no need to be born again because his nature was not sinful like ours but sinless.

Well the fact that Jesus did not need to suffer in hell to atone for our sins is evident in Luke 23:43 where Jesus said to the repentant thief, “assuredly I say to you today you will be with me in paradise.” The problem is this how could Jesus be in paradise that day with the thief, if he had to further suffer in hell under the control of the devil and his demons for 3 more days and 3 more nights? The answer is he couldn’t make that statement to the repentant thief if he needed to continue the atonement in hell. Well Joyce Meyer knows this and addresses this on her audio tape called From the Cross to the Throne her answer is amazing especially to those who have some knowledge of Jehovah Witness theology. Since Jehovah Witness teach that man does not have an immortal soul that lives on after the death of the body Jesus statement to the thief that they would be together in paradise that same day is problematic to them. They couldn’t be there together that day if their body is all they possess and is lying there dead in the grave.

In Joyce Meyer’s theology she has another slant again they couldn’t be together in paradise that same day if Jesus had more work to do in hell before going to paradise. Joyce Meyer does the same thing that the Jehovah’s Witness Bible does, she moves the comma and Jesus statement forward one word listen to this,

(audio clip) Joyce Meyer, “And in Luke 23:43 “Jesus said unto him, “I say unto you today you shall be in paradise with me. There is no punctuation in the original translations of the Bible. We have punctuated it and in this particular scripture it was punctuated wrong. They put in there I say unto you comma today you shall be in paradise with me. Making it appear that the minute Jesus died on the cross he went straight to paradise. No, no, no he did not. The way it should read is I say unto you today comma I am telling you this today. Today I am telling you that you are going to be in paradise with me. But he didn’t say you are going to be there today, he said I am telling you this today.”

Joyce Meyer – Misinterpretation of Luke 23:43  (click this link to listen to this sound clip)

But I would ask Joyce Meyer the same thing that I would ask a Jehovah Witness.

1)     Jesus uses the statement I say unto you dozens of times in the gospels perhaps as many as seventy times. Every time he uses this statement the translators place a comma after the word you – I say unto you comma. Why would this be the only instance where the translators misplace the comma? Is it more reasonable to assume that the Bible is reliable placing the comma in the same location in every translation which translators have done for hundreds of years? Or is it more reasonable to assume that this the only location where they got it wrong?

2)     Number two why would Jesus have to say, “I say unto you today” what other day would Jesus be making this statement to the thief? He certainly wasn’t making it yesterday, or tomorrow. It would be silly, a waste of a word.

The answer is that although there is no comma in the ancient Greek manuscripts the translations have been consistent, logical, and reliable for years. Joyce Meyer like the Jehovah Witnesses have changed the intended words of Jesus twisting the scriptures, making the Bible fit into her own warped theology. Instead of letting the Bible form her doctrine, she forms the Bible’s doctrine.

Another very disturbing teaching of Joyce Meyer is her teaching of sinless perfection. On her audio tape From, the Cross to the Throne Meyer teaches that she is not a sinner.

Crazy mad Woman Joyce Meyer Claims She is no Longer a Sinner – Sinless Perfection Heresy  (click this link to listen to this sound clip)

(audio clip) Joyce Meyer, “All I was ever taught to say was I a poor miserable sinner. I am not poor, I am not miserable, and I am not a sinner. That is a lie from the pit of hell. That is what I were and if I still was then Jesus died in vain. I am going to tell you something folks I didn’t stop sinning until I finally got it through my thick head I wasn’t a sinner anymore and the religious world thinks that is heresy and they want to hang you for it. But the Bible says that I am righteous and I can’t be righteous and be a sinner at the same time.”

Yes you can it is called imputed righteousness. God’s wrath was poured out on Jesus so his righteousness could be imputed or credited to us. When God looks down on a born again child he sees us positionally as possessing the righteousness of Christ in us. Now practically speaking we are still sinners although positionally we are in a right standing before God, practically we do still sin. As a pastor friend of mine says, “I am not sinless but I do sin less.” The point is that we still sin. To say that we have reached a state of sinless perfection is calling God a liar. 1 John 1:8 says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us,” and the apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 1:15 said, “He is not was the chief of sinners.”  Now remember that God doesn’t just see our outward actions. He doesn’t just hear our lies, see our fornications and thefts but God sees the thought life of the heart. Every thought and attitude of our heart is there before God. God sees our lust as adultery, our hatred as murder. He sees our selfishness, our pride, our covertness, our lack of thanksgiving. To say that we are not sinners is something no-one on this earth will be able to say until he is resurrected and glorified in his eternal body. But thanks be to God that he doesn’t hold our sin against us if we have repented and trusted in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Only in him are we made worthy and acceptable before the throne of God and able to approach him with confidence.

As I close this examination of Joyce Meyer’s theology I hope that you can see that this is a serious matter. It is one thing to be awful on eschatology, or signs, gifts it is another thing to be off on the atonement of Jesus Christ. The Bible is very clear that Jesus paid for our sins on the cross when he shed his blood and died. The Bible nowhere says that Jesus ceased to be the Son of God on the cross and it never says he suffered in hell as part of the atonement and was resurrected as a born again man. This is a blatant false teaching, a blatant lie from hell and I know that many good Christians who love Jesus and are obedient to the Word follow Joyce Meyer and her teachings. I didn’t do this critique to ridicule you or to pick on Meyer but I would plead with you to examine this evidence and be discerning as you place yourself under the teaching of Joyce Meyer or anyone else including me.

This is OLD stuff that Joyce no longer believes or teaches. You are the ones disobeying Christ because you are accusing the brethren. She has grown in her knowledge and faith of Christ is a wonderful, mighter speaker

    • Santos Concepcion

You can judge someone to be a,false teacher the word calls us to test the prophets and the spirits. Rightly divide the Word of God. As for Joyce I pray that she would come to repentance. Maybe she needs to lose her idendity and humble herself before Almighty God

    • angelle hollister

well said Glenda, I wanted to say that as well…shame on them for twisting her words too!

  2. Sorry but Joyce has never publicly repented of the blasphemous doctrines she teaches. She hasn’t changed one bit, once a heretic always a heretic. Until I see any sign of repentance from her false doctrine then you can’t say she has changed. Regardless of what she teaches is irrelevant, she just shouldn’t be preaching anyway. When I hear preachers say Jesus ceased to be the Son of God on the cross, that means she is denying that Jesus Christ is eternally God. Many Word of Faith teachers believe Jesus isn’t God. You cannnot be an orthodox Christian and deny Jesus is God. The deity of Christ is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith.

Wayne Grudem says, “If Jesus as a person had sinned, involving both his human and divine natures in sin, then God himself would have sinned, and he would have ceased to be God. YET THAT IS CLEARLY IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE INFINITE HOLINESS OF GOD’S NATURE.”

Wayne Grudem, “Jesus will continue forever in his offices as prophet, priest, and king, all of them carried out by virtue of the fact that is both God and man forever. All of these texts indicate that Jesus did not temporarily become man, but that his DIVINE NATURE was PERMANENTLY united to his human nature, and he lives forever not just as the eternal Son God, the second person of the Trinity, but also as Jesus, the man who was born of Mary, and as Christ, the Messiah and Saviour of his people. JESUS WILL REMAIN FULLY GOD AND FULLY MAN, YET ONE PERSON FOREVER.”

Saying Jesus was born again in hell, tormented by demons, and one who paid for our sins in hell and one who took on the nature of Satan, and that he ceased to be the Son of God, is not the Jesus of the Bible. This is a different gospel, a different Jesus.

Galatians 1:6-9 (ESV – English Standard Version)
6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

I will tell you something unless Joyce Meyer quits preaching another gospel she is hell bound. Her soul is great danger of hell unless she turns from her wicked ways.

2 Corinthians 11:4 (ESV – English Standard Version)
4For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

I will tell you who is disobeying God – Joyce Meyer. The Bible clearly says woman are not allowed to preach and exercise authority over the church congregation. Joyce Meyer is disobedient, the Bible says the role of elder is reserved for men. Joyce being the Bible scoffer and Word of God maligner that she is fails to obey Paul’s commands. One day she will stand before God for her disobedience and she will be judged.

1 Timothy 2:11-15 (ESV – English Standard Version)
11 Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. 12 I DO NOT PERMIT A WOMAN TO TEACH OR TO EXERCISE AUTHORITY OVER A MAN; RATHER, SHE IS TO REMAIN QUIET. 13(V) For Adam was formed first, then Eve; 14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 15 Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.

1 Timothy 3:1-2 (NLT – New Living Translation)
1 This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be an elder, he desires an honorable position.” 2 So an elder must be a man

The Bible also says elders should be good fathers in 1 Timothy 3, how can a woman possibly be a good father to her children? How can a woman also manage her household, this is the role of the husband again. It makes no sense, it is absurd to think a woman can fit all of the qualifications in 1 Timothy 3. Paul just assumes that pastors are going to be men

    • angelle hollister

jesus was tormented in hell, only his hell was right here on earth when they beat him, you don’t think that was hell….HELLO….YOU PERCEIVE WHAT YOU WANT TO! nobody will change that

  3. I remember writing Joyce Meyer some time ago of my concern that an employee of her ministry, is a leader in a church that denies the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Trinity, and hell. I received no reply. How you can be employed with a Christian Ministry, and be a leader in a church that denies three cardinal teachings of the Historic Christian faith, is a real shame. You can read this employees bio here at the church site:
http://www.cpointechurch.com/aboutus/SitePages/leaders.aspx This churches statement of Faith is very similar to an off-shoot of the Way International, known as Spirit And Truth Fellowship International. They are listed at perhaps the largest offshoots of The Way here:
http://www.cortright.org/behome.htm Many of these offshoots have duped and confused many Evangelical organizations. Centerpointe even has S&TFI on their resource page. Those reading Centerpointe Church site, and read about this employee, employed with JMM, may get the impression that Centerpointe is an Evangelical Church. What a sad situation. I was informed by this employee, that Centerpoine is an Evangelical church. This employee knows about the unorthodoxy of Centerpointe. It surely looks to me, that JMM is not concerned about the faith once delivered to the saints.

  4. Jn 5: 39-40

    • Scottie what is your point? What is the point you are trying to make by quoting John 5:39-40?

  5. TBN has mostly Pentecostal preachers and yes, some of them deny the Trinity.

Many of them, like Joyce Meyer, do not use the KJB anymore. If you are going to use a diluted bible or one that has many deletion, you will end up getting a false gospel. This has always been the aim of satan, to destroy the word of God.

    • glynn

The kjv can’t hold a candle to the modern translations.nothing is more watered down than the kj.80% of the kj is taken directly from the william tyndale bible the rest is taken from the latin vulgate and the bishop bible.and most false doctrines have come from the kj cause people have had 400 years to twist the inferior traslation

  6. tellthetruth1

Thank you so much for writing this page. I heard this teaching when I first became born of His Spirit and I knew it was wrong, from the exact same Scriptures you quote from. God bless you.

  7. Dewalph

Indeed, God said to Adam , because you have hearkened unto the voice of your wife…..Women are instructed to remain silent in the church and not to usurp authority over the man. to do so is for Eve (woman) to turn again and offer Adam (man) of the tree of knowledge….when will we learn?

  8. KMCS

Pray for her, if you have concern for her. Reach out to her/her ministry if you have concern about her teachings. Christians need to be held accountable, not dragged through the mud as the world does to us…and as you’ve done to her. <

  9. Ana

Why are we so fast to correct others?? Let God do the judging. We should correct others in love. They are our brothers and sisters, I love Joyce and I believe God gave her the gift, her history is simply amazing and glorifies God, imagine a girl living with a father who repeatedly rapes her BUT SHE FINDS THE COURAGE to forgive him and share her story of forgiveness to the world to help others. I was led to Joyce’s book on forgiveness and God has really blessed me through that. The Holy Spirit is our inner guide…not people and NOT our own understanding.

‘You are either for me or against m’e-Tell me how many lives you have saved. How many mouths have you fed.How many prostitutes have you got off the streets. Joyce meyer ministries does so much good around the world -why split hairs about small matters that no man knows about accept given to them by the holy spirit(what happened to the three days between the death and reserection)Who are you to judge another who promotes Jesus wholeheartedly,it makes me laugh- no wonder people think christians are a waste of space when I hear claptrap such as this, Judge not . Maybe its you who the devil is useing !

  11. Daniel

Good Stuff, no wonder the Bible says that in last days there will be many false teachers – She is really dangerous because she pretends to be a part of the church

  12. Daniel

I would like to thank you because East Europe is right now bombarded with teachings of Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland and books by Kenneth Hagin- even the ladies from our church went to JM conference not knowing what she really teaches. I am lucky to listen only to Andrew Wommack and Pastor Ron Philips, can you name all the false teachers so I can warn others?

  13. I’m frankly appalled that this page has been written without any opportunity being given to Joyce Meyer Ministries to respond. I’ve been a believer for over 25 years and there is nothing here to give me cause for concern. Seems to me it’s the doctrinal splitting of hairs and there are scriptures to support what Joyce has said, eg Ephesians 4:9.

The fact is we cannot explain logically how Jesus can make a statement that he can chose to lay down his life and take it up again (although Romans 8 says it was the Spirit that gave life to him).

The quoted recording here is over 20 years old. I’ve not heard Joyce say anything in the time I’ve been listening to her to make me doubt her integrity.

    • Jared

      John:

If you believe Joyce Meyer teaches sound doctrine, then you are very biblically illiterate inspite of being a “Christian” for 25 years! I wouldn’t tell anyone that if I were you.

I don’t know much about Joyce Myers but those attacking her here are very sarcastic and seemly self righteous.

She have had many invitations to defend or discuss her teachings she has not responded

John, as is the case with everyone that I have spoken to that listens to ANY W.O.F teacher (which Joyce Meyer is) you have simply pulled one verse of scripture to try to make it fit your argument in defense of Joyce Meyer.

A simple reading of a couple of extra verses should make it clear.
Jesus (being God) first “descended” to the “lower parts of EARTH” (NOT HELL) so this is simply talking about him coming to earth to live in a human body & be the sacrifice that was required by the God The Father shedding his blood for us on Calvary to wash away our sins. So, he descended 1st, died on the cross, rose again to life before ascending back to Heaven.

I hope that this helps you gain a bit better understanding & you start to REALLY examine what Joyce Meyer & any other “WOF” teacher you might be listening to against the light of scripture in it’s CORRECT CONTEXT.

That said, Joyce Meyer is undoubtedly a false teacher who has had PLENTY of opportunity to respond to articles like this when she has been asked to by the writers. Like ALL WOF teachers she simply states that she isn’t interested in arguing points of doctrine.
There can be only one reason for that, she KNOWS she is WRONG but is hell bent on deceiving as many as possible. A real wolf in sheep’s clothing!!!

      Ephesians 4:7-9 NKJV
7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says:
      “When He ascended on high,
      He led captivity captive,
      And gave gifts to men.”
9 (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first[c] descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

  14. Speaking of Joyce Meyer responding, she never responded nor anyone from her ministry to my concern (See Nov 7, 2011 entry). Interesting the link to the leaders of CP has been removed (FOR OBVIOUS REASONS). I now see CP is affiliated with another off-shoot of The Way International, The Living Truth Fellowship with John Lynn. Lynn is a former leader in the Way, and you can click on his site(See Cortright link). Click affiliated Fellowships on left side, then click attend a fellowship. You will see CP listed. Again why would anyone employed with JMM, want to be a leader in a church that denies the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Trinity, Hell, and other orthodox teachings?.

i do not support what joyce supposedly or does teach on this page. I do in all humblness add that a christian should be loving when correcting and addressing a situation, if our actions and words do not have love as the foundation then we all need to fix them so they do. I am not judging any of you at all, considering I somtimes sound quite harsh in what I say and by the way I say things at times ,so please here me out, I mean no harm, I’m just concerned and saying this in all sincerity. We are NOT perfect, and we should build up the church with kind words and with a loving concern, not being puffed up and self righteous, the reason I am saying we is because everyone including me needs to learn continually how to address fellow christians with love and calmness with understanding and patience. Not with harsh words and judging others by saying you are a terrible christian or you call yourself a “christian?” Where is the love it those statments? They seem so harsh and full of ridicule. It grieves me deeply how the church is so hostile within itself…. we need to build each other up and correct one another if somone is wrong, but with love and patience… not harsh debating….. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, if we are so harsh in our speech to one another and so divided, can you imagine what image we are portraying to the world as the Church?

I’ve been looking into this for a while now and I do not like it one bit. It’s all New Age Anti-Christ deception. I cannot believe the church has allowed herself to fall for such heresies. No wonder the rapture hasn’t happened. What worries me personally is that the pastor of my church is a big fan of some of these preachers. He himself is a wonderful teacher and a good man of God, setting a good example for the congregation, however, he really enjoys the works and writings of many of these preachers. What can I do? I love him dearly and I don’t want to fall out with him. The bible warns us of quarrelling and arguments etc. That would not be my intention but I feel kinda stuck… I guess I need to pray about it more but is there anybody with some Godly advice for me? How do I approach this issue? Thanks and God bless

I’m no Biblical scholar or mind reader, but from what I’ve seen, The only one Joyce Meyer seems to love is herself.

If she wasn’t making big money, she wouldn’t be preaching. The Bible is not something she believes in or takes seriously. It’s just something that she hides behind.

  16. Joyce myers has done a good job in the jesus christ battle.what battle you say. women are havebeen willbe. a god joyce her words a employee tried to give her advise she fired the person. well i asked my employee to forgive me. doing this i broke a spiritual law. no worldy christian in the name of jesus christ who he himself said he was no good but hewas the way. went to the cross in john. with atroubled spirit. told simon peter to tend my sheep. kjv.says feed. what are the worldly christians and the heavens whom he himself. was. given so them those. without persecution. are bastard children. of their father the devil. he. also said god alone is. good. romans 13 says our gov. is a god. well. god. will be hated. they were tolld not to bite and devour. each other save from my only life from the power of the dog.

I am amazed and troubled how folks can read such accurate Biblical evidence of Joyce Myers heretical teachings still believe her. It would seem knowing that a woman can’t be a husband of one wife as the Bile declares as a prerequisite for a Pastor would send up some clear red flag that she is is wrong. I guess in this old world as it was in Jesus’s day some people were woefully blind and some are willfully blind.

  18. Charlie

Sorry correction Bible. Please read your KJV with its true meaning allowing the Holy Spirit as its interpreter and you will see the errors of today’s teachers. Thanks

  19. God'schild

remember that this is Gods child that you are talking about not the devil but his very own child(that he loves as jesus), please watch what you say about the because the lord is watching and the same way you judge other you yourself will be judge. good day

Woe to you who are rich for you have recieved your consolation.how much is she worth?

  21. Cassandra Thomas

If any “Christian” like Joyce Meyer teaches this heresy, she or anyone cannot be trusted for any more doctrines.

  22. nate

Wow. I think that I would think twice about attacking a Woman of God publicly or privately.

  23. brainfart@jetbronet.com

99.99999% of these televangelists are a product of their own brainfarts. All of these warm fuzzy, feel good movements are early about money… how to get it from you and spend it o themselves. Why would a man of God need a million dollar salary and all the trappings of wealth? They don’t! It’s greed. Don’t fall for their lies? Robert Tilton is the worst of them all.

  24. Bill

Thank you for the insight. What are your thoughts about Matt Redman and Phil Wickham on this on the 2014 JM’s conference? thanks.

  25. David Jenkinson

Here is the answer… Speaking of Jesus
    ISA 9 6
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
    And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Also COL 2:9-10 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity (ALL THAT GOD IS) lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.

  26. David Jenkinson

    John 8:24
(Jesus Speaking)I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.” John 10:33 John 10:33
(Religious leaders of the day) “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

  27. I never trusted her,and didn’t even know all about her.

  28. Raewyn

You are the one leading people wrong, Jesus went to hell to get the keys of sin and death, she was giving her view of what happend, so stop bagging Joyce, you must be very jealous of her,

  29. Jenny Miksch

Wow……Really? What exactly have you done to benefit anyone’s life lately? Instead of wasting your time, who knows how much valuable time, on listening to someone’s old tapes over and over, taking notes, complaining, getting the word out on how “horrible” this lady is…….. oh my goodness…..Why don’t you take your energy and do something positive with it? You know, Joyce has mentioned how people will try to talk to her about who has said what about her and printed articles and such trying to put her down, and “oh my, she said this or that” when the lady is doing what is right, teaching people the truth, and guess what? She will reply with “thank you, but no thank you, I am in the Lord’s hands, He is my vindicator, all things are in His hands and He will keep her safe and her reputation intact. And He has. Her ministry is huge and growing and she is helping people around the world.
She works hard, has speaking engagements one after the other written about 100 books, man, I NEED TO GO….BYE, She is awesome and I think God would rather you be spending your time trying to help others, as Joyce does, instead of being on some “hate watch”. I am a little embarrassed that I am even writing this, I was just web surfing and came across your unfortunate little, and I do mean little, blog. I’m sorry I love you with the love of Christ and I will believe that you are only trying to help others. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, (learned that from guess who!?) and choose to think that you are a good person trying to look out for baby Christians. So, God bless, thank you for your input, but if anyone is actually reading this, JOYCE MEYER IS AWESOME AND I LEARNED SOOO MUCH FROM HER IN MY EARLY DAYS OF WALKING WITH THE LORD. Never will there be a preacher that EVERYONE loves…..We are all different. That’s what makes the world go around…..;…I do hope you find peace though. Well, God bless, and i’m signing off. I would rather not read whatever it is that you are going to write about me ;), AGAIN, BYE AND GOD BLESS
I CANT BELIEVE i JUST WASTED THAT MUCH TIME SMILEY FACE !!! HA PEACE OUT
LOVE YOU!! GOD LOVES YOU SHALOM!!!! .
